Within the first week of classes, new students will realize that student politics is central to life at university.

At UTSC, the Scarborough Campus Students’ Union (SCSU) is the political body that represents students, comprising of a president, six vice-presidents and several other staff members, most of whom are students. The SCSU attempts to enhance student life by advocating for relevant issues and creating initiatives that improve student experiences.
Full-time students pay approximately $37.00 as part of their tuition fees to help fund the SCSU.
